Reformatted and no sound
Hello, I just reformatted my harddrive, I have no sound and in my device manager says Multimedia Audio Controller under Other Devices, and theres two other things I'm pretty sure shouldn't even be on there, but i think got on there from the 20 different drivers and things ive tried from other forms, now I know its common but I've tried everything, even from forums with the same problem and same M/b and Sound card, well...
Theres the !Multimedia Audio Controller and these two !Microsoft Kernel Audo Acoustic Echo Counceller and audio splitter.
I have a:
P4S5A/Dx Motherboard, with a built in sound card.
and I beleive I had C-media before reformat, and ive tried everything related to the mother board and C-media and then some. This first time I've ever used a forumn so I apologize.

http://members.ozemail.com.au/~nulifetv/freezip/
You can download the free zip utility to extract your driver. :)
-
Lol, I know how to unzip but theres just a few files inside, no exe to install, i dont know where or what to do with the files, A3D.DLL, sis7012(security Catalog), sis7012(System file), SIS7012(system information), Unist2k
-
Ok put your files in a folder on C: drive. Go to add hardware and run the
utility until it finds your audio card. Go to (I `m going by memory so bare with me please) find drivers pick from files not cdrom. then browse to your folder
and hopefully it will work. :)
-
i put them in c drive, then it asked is it connected or not, i put yes then picked !Multimedia Audio Controller, and it said The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)

Go to the device manager and find Multimedia audio controller.
Right click on it and choose properties.
Go to the driver tab at the top
Next window should provide either Update driver or reinstall driver.
Click that and then show it where you put the files in a folder on the cdrive

Prestone, it helps when our suggestions DON'T work to tell us what error or other messages you get.
For instance, if you directed the driver update to the .inf file in the folder you were advised to make for the downloaded and unzipped files, and if that was the wrong .inf, you would have gotten a message.
Did you? What was it?
