Norton Internet Security 2004
Hi folks,
This is my first posting in these forums so please be gentle
I have NIS 2004 installed on my computer and although it seems to be working and updating properly it does not put an icon in the system tray. Small problem not worth bothering about you may say but it was reassuring in the old version to see it was up and running. The AntiVirus icon appears and even though Internet Security is configured to show system tray icon on Windows start up it doesn't! I have to manually deselect this option and turn it back on to get the icon to appear. The Symantec site suggests solutions to this that do not make any difference. Can anyone help???

McAfee (hehe) often does this as well with me, it will just dissappear sometimes. Identify the task for the icon on the tray in your process manager, for internet protection or whatever it is, if it's there, it's running. You could take a peek at your msconfig setup, and make sure it's checked to start in the "Startup" tab. If this all checks out normal, I don't really see the problem, windows xp seems kind of buggy with systray anyways, this often happens with my ThrustMapper utility as well, it doesn't show up, but the process is running. Unless you're constantly using the icon, it's no big deal.
