Vista Password
Hello Just thought I would vent I should of came here first maybe I would have better feed back. Nephew Is locked out on his laptop. Only thought I have is someone, He is living with his step brother and there not too close.
Vista has a pretty good password protection. I have been searching And found at HP site I can purchase recovery CD for $15.58 I did just that.
It will be here in about 5 day`s. His Compaq is like Acer when it comes to making a recovery cd, Maybe all are like that . I know when I had my compaq
You had C: and D: with recovery which came with computer. I GUESS nowaday`s they want you to burn back up ( Recovery). WELLL He did not do that, No recovery CD.
Last thing I remember, running for the door,
I had to find the passage back to the place
I was before.

Actually all a recovery cd will do, is reinstall the whole system back to what it was when purchased. I think that can be done with a keystroke combination on boot. Off the recovery partition.
What you are actually talking about is a Vista password reset.

This thread reads like a commercial for small system builders. Yay me! I like the fact that Vista has better diagnostic and repair tools than XP, but it's unfortunate that many are only available by booting from the DVD. So far, I haven't seen any Big Name manufacturers who seem aware of this. There may be a Recovery Disk set or Recovery Partition on somebody's systems that gives you access to the full range of Vista repair tools, but I haven't seen it.

I haven't tried it yet but I believe the erd commander will do. Maybe even the "ultimate boot cd 4 windows". I have both and will try when I return for the day.
