File Access slows after Office 2003 installation
I have a client that still uses floppies (No Comments please) and after we installed Office 2003, file access on the floppy drive slows significantly. Any ideas on how to resolve?

My first thought would be maybe Antivirus scanning files before allowing access. AV will normally default to check .doc or .xls files for macro viruses before allowing them to be used. You don't register it happening from hard disk, but the delay checking from floppy disk could be noticeable, or was this only after an upgrade and nothing else has changed?

Uninstalling the old Office (2000) and installing the new one were the only changes.

Is this direct file access within Office applications, or all file access ie copying floppy to HDD etc?

try a new floppy drive. They do wear out.
