USB 3.5" HDD External Case storage auto-disconnect
Folks, I just bought a unit to house a new Maxtor 40GB harddisk. Both the Win2000 SP2(IBM T30), and a Gigabyte running W98 (driver program was provided in the package for W98) can recognise when I plug it into the USB (both front/MOBO) but within a minute or so, it would disconnect. I tried with a formatted harddisk, it still the same.
In the W98, a USB2 Epson printer was recently installed & it worked perfectly. So, it wouldn't be a USB2 issue. In Win2000 unit, only a USB2 mouse is connected & working.
I need help!

Lately, I uploaded SP4 to Win2000 and retry the USB2.0 connection. This time the hDD has been formatted and data is copied into it before retrying. It connected and hold for a longer period, yet it's still the same.
On the Computer Info:
MS Windows 2000, 5.00.2195, SP4
Mobile Intel Pentium 4 - 1.8GHz
In the other machines with Win98, it has not being resolved (the MOBO is a VIA chipset on AMD Athlon 1.8GHz, the driver shows up but the same happened - connect and disconnect after a short while).
