OK, that card is old.... in theory, xp should have picked it up and installed the basic driver... in practice it rarely did.
right click here and select save as. Browse to a folder you can find again and download it Unzip the file, then go into device manager and the 1370 device and update the driver. Browse to where you unzipped the files and hopefully windows will do the rest.
If the driver above doesn't work, I have two other possible candidate, but I have to upload them first.
I installed the driver you suggested but there was a problem during the install. Windows wasn't able to copy all the files I believe, it got stuck on SBPCI.bmp. I tried twice but got the same problem. The device manager now has a yellow ! under the multimedia audio controller.
I've tried re-downloading it into a folder instead of the desktop, I'm still getting the same problem. my system 'locks up' when the status bar is almost at 100% when the SBPCI.bmp file is being copied.
Odd, it extracts fine for me.. are you using a downloader, or just IE or firefox? Are you using the XP extract or winzip/winrar?
anyway, I attach the SBPCI.bmp - it sounds like it is the last file to extract the others should be in the extracted folder...
Sorry, I didn't word my post properly. The problem occurs when I run the hardware wizard to install the audio controller. After i click the 'have disk' icon and after i select the folder with all the extracted files, a status bar comes up to show the files being copied. My system locks up when SBPCI.bmp is being copied, and the bar remains full.
CCT: I need the soundcard to work because my motherboard does not have an audio-in port I require to plug in my speaker jack.
Sidenotes: I updated the Bios on the motherboard and also installed the recent windows updates and tried to see if windows would automatically pick up the card but still having no luck.
NooNoo, the drivers that you posted - should i enable the audio controller before i try installing them or keep it disabled? I'm a bit confused as to what the actual driver(s) I need. One for the onboard audio controller and one for the soundcard itself? Please clarify.
I may be missing something - they show audio in when that mobo has audio;
That is really weird. I opened my case to see if the ports were hidden behind the metal in the back but they are not. I see that in the pic you posted there are 3 jack ports under a parallel port. On my motherboard I don't have any jack ports nor that parallel port shown on top. ??? The sticker on the motherboard says CUSL2 - C Under it is printed Rev 1.02. Only thing I could think of it is that my motherboard is an older model than the one shown in the manual.
Edit: I read some of the manual NooNoo linked in his previous post and discovered that the audio in ports are only 'on audio model only' on page 12. Guess my model sucks :X

Right now if I were you I would dump the creative card and get a $10 cmedia based card - never ever have these issues with cmedia cards.
If you have a pci card and onboard, you should disable the onboard so you and windows don't confuse which is which!
Have you tried replacing your copy with attached copy of sbpci.bmp?
Did you turn off your virus checker while installing the files?
Have you tried opening sbpci and see if you can display the bmp?
I like the idea of just getting a new card if its that inexpensive. I've had enough headache with this one. What exactly would I ask for in the computer store. I'm planning on going to http://canadacomputers.com/ since they have a location close to my house. Thanks for the help.
